Obamacare Slaps James Madison’s Vision of America

by  Ron Meyer
Published by Human Events, Guns and Patriots

Many of the goons inside the beltway still look at the Tea Party movement and the conservative uprising as some sort of an odd phenomenon. What they don’t get is that Americans love freedom, and when either an external or internal source threatens the values we were founded on, they are going to stand up and shout.

Through the Constitution, America was built on a foundation of liberty and property rights. When bills like Obamacare undermine these fundamental principles, you better believe the American people will respond.

The three-headed Democrat juggernaut of Obama, Reid, and Pelosi decided last week that they were going to “reform” our health care system by using Soviet-style price controls. This idea of supposed cost reduction has led to rationing throughout history, but history doesn’t seem to matter to these politicians.

I was in utter shock last week when the Speaker of the House had the audacity to say the founders would have supported this 2409 page bill because it would honor “our commitment to our nation’s founders for a commitment to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” How can you be committed to liberty by forcibly controling an industry? Control is the antithesis of liberty.

Obamacare’s Future: Higher Prices and Rationing

by  Ron Meyer
Published by Human Events, Guns and Patriots

After more than an entire year of inoculating debate on health care, the Democrats managed to pass Obamacare while ignoring the biggest diver of higher health care costs in America: the price controls in Medicare and Medicaid. Last Wednesday’s headline on the Drudge Report, “Regional Walgreens says ‘No New Medicaid,’” reminded me once again that the political mainstream is still oblivious to the elephant in the room.

And no, I’m not talking about John Boehner.

If the government wants to get serious about making health care more affordable, it needs only to look in the mirror. It’s tough to blame insurance companies for all our health care problems when the government controls more of the entire industry (around 50%) through Medicare and Medicaid. Not only do these program deny more people coverage per capita than private insurers, these programs significantly raise costs for everyone.

Medicare and Medicaid pay Walgreens, doctors, and pharmaceutical companies at a rate set by the federal government. This is a form of price controls. The wonderful news is that the Obamacare bill that was rammed through the House last Sunday is going to multiply this practice throughout the entire industry.

Why the Youth Like Ron Paul and How the GOP Can Keep Them Around
by  Ron Meyer
Published by Human Events, Guns and Patriots

If Ron Paul’s victory in the CPAC straw poll demonstrates anything, it proves that it’s not only the pot-smoking, anti-war hippies that support Ron Paul. Hippies have had trouble voting for years because — surprise! — they tend to have a lack of motivation; Paul’s supporters definitely care and know how to organize for their cause.

What exactly is that cause? It is currently centered around one man, but, let’s be honest, Ron Paul isn’t exactly a young-looking charismatic speaker who’s in with all the latest fads. On the contrary, he’s a whiny-sounding old man.

It seems that we young people are drawn to Paul for a variety of reasons. Some like his “non-interventionist”/anti-war foreign policy. Others like his stands on the Constitution, Austrian economics, and the Federal Reserve. And yes, some are pot-loving hippies that hate “the Man.”

There’s a trend here: young people like lofty principles and illustrious ideals. This is the largest reason our generation voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama in 2008. Not only were “Hope” and “Change” catchy slogans, they reflected Obama’s post-partisan yet unapolegetically ideological stances. Plus, Obama ran against the establishment. The bright-eyed and optimistic youth loved this stuff…
